Jennifer Marion, born and adopted in Shreveport, Louisiana, is a lens-based artist currently based in Texas who uses photographs to explore social structures and identity. As a single mother, juggling her art and motherhood is something she has grown accustomed to and continues to push and inspire her artwork. Marion finds creating to be a therapeutic necessity in her life as she investigates her unique reality from various familiarities within the realm of domesticity— more specifically motherhood, being queer, and being an adoptee.

She finds herself comfortable pursuing these conceptual concerns with her camera in hand, in the darkroom, or giving life to mixed media work from family archives.  Marion is passionate about sharing the unique experiences of both others and herself, explicitly the experiences that our society defines as “other”. Her artistic intentions are intertwined with her own personal identity and how she exists in society.

In 2020, she received her BFA in Photography from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.
